Camp Time Again At HUSU!

…and they could use a little boost.

Help Us Save Us | Haiti Camp

MMRC Haiti has been working with Help Us Save Us for over a year now and we are tremendously pleased to report that it has been a vibrant and successful partnership.

MMRC and HUSU have shared funds, volunteers, resources and recently were pleased to provide a $7,000 Aqua Sun water-purification system to the HUSU camp.  This purification system – generously donated to MMRC from Garden Fresh Salsa!) will ensure the camp children, staff and volunteers – along with the surrounding community of Saint Raphael have an abundance of clean drinking water.

We love it when a plan comes together!

HUSU was founded by Fred Joseph Jr. in 2010 and we cannot stress what a truly amazing and inspiring individual he is.  A Haitian-American, Fred has tirelessly devoted his time and energy to the people of Haiti and has great long term plans for the children and people of Saint Raphael, Haiti.

What is happening with HUSU now?

For the third consecutive year, HUSU will host over 500 Haitian children – many orphans and street children – in weekly camps.  Held in a beautiful and safe environment, children come from all over Haiti to experience a week that includes the basic necessities of life most of us take for granted.  The kids will sleep in their own bed (many for the first time ever), receive three healthy meals a day – and learn life skills through music, arts, dance, crafts, sports activities and mentoring.  New clothes and shoes will be distributed to the children – along with soap, toothbrushes and other personal hygiene supplies – and a few classes for the young ones on how to use them!  Volunteer medical staff are also in attendance at HUSU camps, providing kids a check up and any required medications.

This is a fantastic camp and MMRC is tremendously proud to support it.

But wait..

While Fred has raised thousands of dollars and everything is set to launch, with camp starting in just a few days – HUSU is just a wee bit short on funds to make this a true success.

We need to raise $2,000 in the next 72 hours to ensure that Fred can focus on the children and not on fundraising (which he already does 10 months a year..).

So let’s do it for Fred – but more importantly, let’s do it for the kids.

MMRC Haiti is happy to kick this campaign off with $250.

Are you in?!
